Marc Franco-Salvador

Chief Scientific Officer

Research Focus:
Natural Language Processing
Information Retrieval
Plagiarism Detection
Computational Linguistics
Artificial Intelligence

Marc is Chief Scientific Officer at Symanto, where he joined in 2016. In this role, he works together with his team to provide our data analysis platform with novel solutions based on the latest techniques of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine and deep learning.

He has more than ten years of experience as a researcher in projects related to multilingual natural language processing and information retrieval. Those projects allowed him to acquire a strong background in machine and deep learning, data science, analytics, and mining.

He obtained his PhD in computer science in the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), where he also obtained his Engineer’s Degree in Computer Science and his Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition and Digital Image.

I am a Research Scientist at Symanto since September 2018. Previously I have been member of Pattern Recognition and Human Language Technology (PRHLT) research center, where I worked on statistical machine translation task. I have obtained my PhD from Univeritat Politècnica de València for my work on advanced techniques of domain adaptation in machine translation. My long term research goal is to develop natural language processing techniques to build learning systems with little human supervision.

Seren Yenikent

R&D Psychologist

Research Focus:
Media Psychology

I am working as a R&D Psychologist at Symanto. I am responsible for encoding psychological theories in machine-readable psycholinguistic models and supporting product and commercial departments for industry cases. I hold a PhD degree in Media Psychology from University of Tuebingen. Before joining Symanto, I was a Research Associate in the Knowledge Media Research Center (Tuebingen) working for the AFEL (Analytics for Everyday Learning) consortium funded by EU HORIZON 2020.

Angelo is a Research Scientist at Symanto Research since October 2018: he works on building classification models and internal ML tools. He previously worked in the Bixby Team for Samsung, where he took care of the NLG module for Italian. He is an Erasmus Mundus Language and Communication Technology alumnus and obtained a master in Linguistics from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and a master in Computer Science from the University of Malta (The Maltese Islands). He worked on detecting language variation using syntactic features and neural models.

Ian Borrego Obrador

Product Data Scientist

Research Focus:
Data Science
Finance Markets
Graph Analysis
Natural Language Processing

Ian is a Product Data Scientist at Symanto since June 2022. Having worked as a consultant in the financial valuation and banking sectors using different valuation models and discovering the ins and outs of the corporate banking institutions.

Slowly building up his curiosity for Data Science with various training programs in the companies he worked & other self-disciplinary methods to further approach the world of data he decided to turn his career and step into a Data Science Bootcamp to enhance and consolidate himself as a Data Scientist.

At Symanto he applies his financial background and Data Science tools for finance related products, not only with traditional ML models but also specializing in NLP and Network analysis.

José Ángel is Senior Research Scientist at Symanto since November 2022. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Universitat Politècnica de València, while he was member of the Language Engineering and Pattern Recognition (ELIRF) research group in the Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (VRAIN). He mainly works on Natural Language Processing (NLP) fields such as summarization, affective analysis, and figurative language, proposing solutions based on deep learning. His main interest (and long-term, likely utopic, research goal) is to develop computational models that understand and generate human language in the same way humans do.

Areg Sarvazyan

Junior Research Scientist

Research Focus:
Language Technologies
Natural Language Processing
Machine & Deep Learning

Areg is a Junior Research Scientist at Symanto since October 2022. He previously developed Automatic Speech Recognition systems at Stadler and was a member of the Machine Learning and Language Processing (MLLP) research center of the Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (VRAIN) at Universitat Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), where he worked on simultaneous and streaming machine translation systems. These projects, together with experience obtained through deep learning competitions, aided him in building a strong foundation in data science, machine learning and deep learning.

He obtained is Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at the UPV and is currently studying its Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition and Digital Imaging.

Konrad works as a Data Scientist at Symanto. He graduated in Informatics and Econometrics at Poznan University of Economics. Most of his career he has been working in big pharma companies (GSK, Roche, Novartis) – at first as a Software Engineer and then as a Data Scientist.

He was working on building end-to-end machine learning solutions for Natural Language Processing (NLP) projects such as Text Clusterisation or Semantic Search. At the same time, He has been deeply exploring Graph Neural Networks (GNN) and their applications to both NLP and highly relational biomedical data using Knowledge Graphs. Currently, He is focused on finding solutions to real world NLP challenges as well as exploring new GNN architectures.
